What if, as a little girl, Elizabeth had stumbled upon Darcy in a London park, in need of aid, and she helped him?
Reunited years later at the Meryton assembly, Elizabeth is saddened that her childhood idol doesn’t recognize her. Even worse, time has changed his mannerisms considerably, although she has to admit he has become quite dashing. When he goes so far as to insult her, she is both angered and heartbroken.
Darcy is stunned to have been told off by the country miss at an insignificant assembly in the middle of nowhere. Initially he is furious, but then he realizes just who she is. He knows he must apologize and prove to Miss Elizabeth that he could be a better man than the one that he had unthinkingly become, and Miss Elizabeth’s arrival to nurse her ill sister gives him the perfect opportunity to do so.
When outside forces make their blooming friendship and eventual courtship difficult, both prove just how stubborn they can be when love is on the line.
